The breathtaking New Zealand (2-10 Dec 2015) - Day 1 (Christchurch)

Kia Ora..!
New Zealand... The much awaited trip ever..!
Inspiration - from my dear friend, Dayang's trip back in March 2015.
And we straightaway booked the flight to NZ 3 months after hers - June 2015...!
Main reason is: NZ looked so breathtaking & peaceful, a much needed vacation for years of busy-ness & chaos. Plus we need a vacation in December that is not too cold & not too hot (Australia) & not too far.

It has been really a long time since i last blog.
And i really hope I can do this for NZ coz it's very much worth it.
Will not write so much, really wanna do some really short sweet informative blog like "kakiberangan.blogspot"s. His blog really helps with planning for trip, budget etc.
But, well who knows if I get excited with the stories :-)

Ok. Here goes...

Flight details:
MAS from KL-Melbourne (28 Nov)
Jetstar from Melbourne-Christchurch (2 Dec)
Jetstar from Christchurch-Melbourne (10 Dec)
MAS from Melbourne-KL (11 Dec)

Arrived Christchurch via Jetstar @5.50am. Everyone was so sleepy since we departed @1am according to Melbourne time. Flight took 3 hours. So basically 3 hours of "sleep" only. Nak murah punya pasal kan. Plus we arrived early in the morning, so why not.

Tips:
#1 - We took this route based on advice from fellow friends. Rupa-rupanya bole jimat dlm RM 1k for each person compared to if we were to take direct flight KL-Christchurch via MAS or Emirates which cost around RM 4k + per pax. Hence, we took quite a long time & searched really well to save cost on the flight. For my own, I managed to use up the Maybank points (ard 300,000+), converted them to Enrich points for MAS one person return ticket KL-Melbourne-KL.

#2 - Do not order any meals in the flight if you are taking the flight schedule that we took. Rugi je sbb sume org dah ngantuk, tak lalu makan pun.

Car Hire:
We took Apex. A trusted local company. The cheapest & best reviewed. They provided an MPV which took us from the airport to their office. We went there with a number of other tourists. Very smooth. We had a Subaru Forester, an SUV which is comfy enough for the four of us & 5 large + small bags. We took the GPS, booster seat for Deena (to elevate Deena such that she could wear the seatbelt properly like us - it was FOC) & also zero access (which means no worry type of insurance, in which if  anything were to happen, we do not need to pay a single cent)

Places:
#1- Hagley Park (north)
- Hubby didn't get enough sleep, so we chillaxing at Hagley Park as a start coz we can't check in to the hotel yet. He needed the sleep. And oh, he's the type yang pening kalau org lain drive, so fuhh, I got to be the co-pilot & enjoyed the views. hehe
- Kids will be kids. Haris is 13 yo, Deena is 10 yo. Ayah tido, but they were ok. Jumping & running in the park. A very beautiful park with a small lake, some ducks were swimming, small yellow daffodills (I think that's the name) blooming within the green green grass.
- We ate a little sandwich from the flight and that's breakfast.
- Below are the pictures.. Enjoy the view..!

#2- Westfield Riccarton Mall, Pak n' Save
- We went for grocery shopping at Westfield Riccarton mall coz we were looking for Pak n Save. I noticed that the brand 'Pam' is cheaper & there were many products of Pam. Maybe that's equivalent to Giant brand kot. Tak tau ler. Reviews said that Pak n Save is the cheapest place for groceries & it is true. We could confirm this coz we went to quite a number of grocery shops while in NZ. And yeah, we bought a lot here.
- Lunch - also here @ Kebab Place at the food court.
- 3pm baru check in hotel (Top 10 Holiday Park)

#3- Christchurch Top 10 Holiday Park
- Top 10 Holiday Park- was one of a kind. Individual room. Hubby selected this type in which toilet kongsi kat luar..! adoii. Rupa-rupanya ada je rooms with toilet inside. Nonetheless, we were ok because the room that we had (room #19) is the corner room. Behind us is the common kitchen, common laudrette. Dlm bilik ada katil2, fridge & table saja. It was a very cozy room, clean with heating blanket.
- Laundry cost was NZD 3 (washer), NZD 2 (dryer). We chose the 'Delicate' mode at dryer sbb x nk kecut baju. Tapi lambat la kering. Shd hv chosen the 'white & colors' . 'Perm press' wld be too hot i think. At Syracuse east genesee apt dulu mana ada choice. Tekan je. Ikut la heat camna dh set, tu yg baju kecut tu
- One more. There's a lot of kids' activities at the playground. Giant chess, bumpy pillow & trampoline, swing etc.
- And oh yeah, Top 10 Holiday Park is the place for ppl traveling with caravan. Here, they can park their caravan and probably for a change, can sleep in a proper room, wash their laundry, cook & bathe properly.
- Review: I love this place..! One of a kind..!

Caravan - we didn't take coz we think we can't be 'living' in such confined space for the whole 9 nights. hehe

This is our dinner for the nite. Yummy..!
